General Rules

GENERAL RULES OF COMPETITION.

This Race / competition will be governed under the regulations of the Mexican Triathlon Federation, in the form of No. Drafting. http://www.triatlon.com.mx/reglamento_1.html

RACE STAGES CUT OFF TIMES:

There will be partial times for the closing of each segment of the competition

The swimming time limit is 1 hour and 10 minutes for the individual categories, and 1 hour and five minutes after the start for the relay categories. Any competitor who is in the water after that time will be disqualified and removed from the competition. Disqualified competitors do not have permission to continue the competition.

The San Gil Triathlon event, considering the swim and bike stages, will have a total time of 5 hours and 30 minutes to complete the first two stages of the race. The same conditions apply to the race segment that will have a time limit of 8:00 hours after starting the race for the complete Triathlon including the run half marathon. It is very important that you take into account this RULE and adhere to the time limit conditions, as they are safety measures for both athletes who must abandon the test and for those who are competing. This will keep the quality of the competition maintained. It is important that if a participant leaves in any segment, notify a judge and return the chip until they have returned to the Transition Zone. It is essential that we, as the organizing committee, know where they are on the route.

IMPORTANT: The race chips that are not returned will cost $ 50 dollars which will be charged to the credit card used to register for the event. In the case of having registered with bank transfer or bank deposit, the athlete who misses the chip must deposit the amount of the chip loss, in a period not exceeding 15 days.

It is the responsibility of the athletes to know all aspects of swimming, cycling and pedestrian running.

  • Participants must follow the instructions of the race officials and local authorities.
  • Race officials have the authority to disqualify any athlete.
  •  The medical staff will have the FINAL decision to withdraw from the competition any athlete they consider is at risk due to the medical or health situation. Any athlete who requires medical transfer to either the medical area of ​​the event or a hospital will be disqualified.
  •  No participant may use medications or substances to help develop their physical abilities.
  •  Committing fraud, abusively treating volunteers or other unsportsmanlike acts are grounds for disqualification and will result in the suspension of the athlete in future Heglennco Sports events.
  •  If any athlete decides to leave the competition during any segment of the competition, it is their responsibility to report to the timing tent or give notice to a judge and deliver the chip and competitor’s number until returning to the Transition Zone. It is very important that race officials have knowledge of the location of athletes all the time. Failure to give notice after leaving the competition may result in the athlete being prevented from participating in future Heglennco Sports events.
  • It is necessary for participants to be able to maintain control of their manual bike and operate it at a reasonable speed without compromising the safety of volunteers at the aid stations, other athletes and the general public. Improper handling of a bicycle or manual bike will be grounds for disqualification.
  • Helmets must have CPSC / INSI approval and be used throughout the cycling stage.
  • Any athlete rolling without a helmet or with an unbuckled belt will be disqualified.

MEDICAL INFORMATION
  • DEHYDRATION: athletes should drink an adequate amount of fluids, before and during the competition. Dehydration can cause cramping, muscle aches or impaired performance. It is recommended that they hydrate with what worked for them during workouts.
  • TEPERATURE PROBLEMS: HYPERTERMIA. The weather can be hot and humid so it is advisable to wear light clothing to avoid hyperthermia and stay hydrated.
  • HYPONATREMIA: Low sodium levels, replacing lost water without replacing sodium causes hyponatremia, sodium is lost through urine and sweat, remember to eat salty foods during or before competition.
  • USE OF SERUM OR INTRAVENOUS FLUIDS: Some competitors are likely to require medical help when they reach the finish line and need to have some fluid or serum.
  • No family member or friend will be authorized to move to the medical area.

** Remember that it is important that you know the amount of fluids that you are going to drink during the competition, both the lack of and the excess can be the cause of a severe health problem.

*** The organizing committee wishes to see all athletes finish without any health problems, so we recommend that you follow all the instructions of the race officials and always use the supply stations.

More than half of the services given in the medical area of ​​the event occur after the athletes have finished the competition, please do not leave the recovery area until you and your companions are sure that you are well.

The safety of competitors is our priority.

AID STATIONS POST

BIKE: they will be located at km 20, 35 and 56 and 70, at these points you will find Powerade, water, ice, bananas, oranges and potatoes.

There will be change of amphorae, the amphorae you receive will always be new.

The bike aid stations will close at 6:30 am, 30 minutes before from the starting shot.

Medium – Marathon: Every two kilometers, Powerade, water, ice, bananas, oranges, pretzels, potatoes, Coca-Cola and Vaseline will be offered.

The half marathon aid & supply stations will close at 3:00 pm after the official cutt off time for the event has been reached.

RECOVERY AREA

Upon reaching the FINISH LINE all athletes will receive a medal and a finalist shirt (it is very important that they look for the corresponding STAND since they will not be delivered or sent after this moment), you must continue walking to the RECOVERY Tent after you reach the Finish Line, until you reach the recovery zone and the medical area tents you will receive recovery food and drink. There will also be a special area for massages (maximum session of 5 minutes per participant)

AWARD CEREMONY

Date: Sunday, July 3rd, 2022 at 3:00 p.m., it will be awarded at the end of the official time of the competition or before if the athletes finished before the official race máximum time of 8:00 hours.

Location: San Gil Soccer Field, behind the Player Stands, At the exit of the recovery area of the San Gil Triathlon.

The first 3 places in each race category will be awarded with a medal in groups by age, elite and relay.

It is essential to wear the athlete’s bracelet that will be delivered in your package during registration.
